| May 14, 2009 Dante's Barrington, N.J. The middle of May was supposed to be mild enough for an outdoor performance during dinner hours. But the threat of rain (which eventually happened) and gusty winds moved the music inside the restaurant. Dom had played the main barroom on Jan. 30, and had no problem setting up and playing a few hours in the friendly confines. This Thursday was the day before graduation for most New Jersey colleges, so a cover of "No Surrender" -- which opens with the lines, "We busted out of class, had to get away from those fools / We learned more from a three-minute record than we ever learned in school" -- made for a sarcastically appropriate inclusion in the first set. As it turned out, one of the waitresses, Megan, was graduating the next day from Rowan University, and she's a Bruce Springsteen fan and really liked the song. Sometimes, these setlists work out better than anticipated. Congratulations to Megan and all the 2009 grads!
