Widener Radio welcomes Dom as studio guest FEB. 19, 2010 -- In a very last-minute booking, Dom traveled to Chester, Pa., on this Friday afternoon for a visit to Widener University's radio station WDNR (89.5 FM, wdnr.com), where he appeared live on the "D.J. & Katie Show." Hosted by a pair of Widener freshmen appropriately named D.J. and Katie, the program features a broad format of pop/rock music every Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. Dom was the "surprise guest" for the second hour, answering questions from the hosts during three short segments in between blocks of music. The listeners were introduced to a pair of Dom's songs: the album cut of "Hugs and Kisses" after the first segment and a live performance of "When I Get Back" (complete with harmonica) in the third segment. Add another one to the list of radio stations that have played Dom's music AND hosted him as a guest on a broadcast. Thanks to D.J. and Katie and WDNR! Hosting event turns nostalgic in Bridgeton JAN. 4, 2010 -- Dom served as the guest host for the year's initial First Monday Acoustic Open Mic at Brenner's Brew in Bridgeton, N.J. Owned and operated by Barbara Brenner, this coffeehouse and arts venue holds a variety of music, poetry/spoken word and creative writing events. The First Monday series is an open showcase for anyone who wants to perform musical or spoken pieces, and with no permanent host, is always led by a guest artist. The venue had some historic significance for Dom, who played his first South Jersey booked show at Brenner's Brew in December of 2002. When asked back in October of 2009 if he wanted to serve as the guest host for an upcoming First Monday, Dom jumped at the chance! To mark the occasion, Dom played a handful of songs that were on the setlist for that show more than seven years earlier, and then turned to the task of welcoming a few other brave souls to the microphone throughout the night. Thanks to Barbara Brenner for opening her store for this monthly program and for inviting Dom back to a truly special place in his musical development! |
